Happy salad season, you guys! I don’t know about you, but around this time of year my fridge turns into a produce drawer explosion, lol!

There’s something about a big colorful bowl that makes me feel like I have my life together, even when I very much do not! Every ingredient just sits there looking pretty until dinner.

Last year there were seven different bowls on that table. The pasta one disappeared first, no contest!

Since warm weather is only a couple of short weeks away, I’ve gathered 20 adorable salad ideas the entire family will love. Don’t fret if you’ve never tossed anything fancier than lettuce and dressing before.

From strawberry spinach to pesto tortellini and a full pasta bar, there’s at least one idea in here you’ll want on repeat. Under each one I’ve added the little details you actually want to know, plus a link to the full step-by-step recipe. Who wouldn’t want that?

SALAD IDEAS

1. Strawberry Spinach Salad Bowl

We’re starting off strong with this strawberry spinach bowl. The berries get sliced thin so every forkful has a little sweetness in it.

Candied pecans go on top for crunch. I’ve had neighbors ask for this one specifically every single June, haha! It’s become a running joke at every cookout.

  • The one everyone asks for by name
  • Ready in a quarter hour
  • Poppy seed dressing does the work
  • Berries need to be ripe

2. Southwest Chopped Chicken Salad

This southwest chopped chicken salad is basically a meal disguised as a side. Black beans, corn and crushed tortilla strips make it hearty enough for a Tuesday dinner.

I always end up doubling the chicken because it goes fast! A lime crema drizzle ties the whole thing together.

  • Leftover chicken works fine
  • Chips go on right before serving

  • No wilting the next day
  • Lemon juice keeps it fresh

19. DIY Pasta Bar Setup

Setting up a DIY pasta bar is one of the easiest crowd-pleasing pasta station ideas around for a family gathering. Cook a couple noodle shapes and set out several sauces. Then everyone builds their own bowl.

Bowls of toppings like bacon bits, olives and extra cheese round it out. Honestly that alone makes it worth doing every time!

  • Keeps everyone out of the kitchen
  • Two noodle shapes is plenty
  • Sauces kept warm in a slow cooker
  • Toppings set out in small bowls

20. Wedding Pasta Station Display

Last but definitely not least, we have this wedding pasta station display. Tiered trays and little labeled tags make it look like a whole event just for noodles!

Guests line up the same way they would for a dessert table. It’s become one of the most requested setups at every celebration I’ve helped plan. Who wouldn’t want noodles at their wedding?

  • Works for any celebration size
