Looking for a business event outfit that feels a little more special than your usual office look? Think navy pinstripes, a cream suit or a brown skirt with little bow shoes.
These ideas include simple daytime combinations plus dressier looks for evening events.
You can keep things understated or bring in a little sparkle. Start with the event’s dress code, then choose the details you love. I especially like the gold-colored accessories and matching sets here.
Business event outfits worth saving
navy pinstripes and a tie
We’re starting off strong with this navy pinstripe vest and matching wide-leg pants. I love the dark tie against the white shirt.
The big silver-tone hoops are such a fun addition.

Try a black belt and small black bag to follow this look without adding another color.
black dress and silver details
Don’t want to put together lots of separate pieces? This fitted black dress keeps things simple with cap sleeves and a deep notched neckline.
The silver-tone earrings, bracelet and watch are all the decoration it needs.
For an event where you’d prefer more coverage, choose a similar dress with a higher neckline.
brown blazer and cropped pants
The brown and black pairing is so pretty in this outfit. A long brown blazer sits over a matching top, with cropped black wide-leg pants below.
I especially love the pointed brown slingbacks. Try gold-tone earrings and a small pendant if you want to keep the accessories just as simple.

champagne shirt and draped skirt
This skirt may just be one of my favorites here. I love the gathered folds at the waist and the long draped detail down the front.
The collage pairs it with a shiny champagne-colored shirt, pale pointed pumps and a black quilted bag. Add gold-tone drop earrings if you want that same dressy finish.
cream suit and a tied neckline
How gorgeous is this cream suit? The double-breasted blazer and matching pants look lovely with the tied neckline underneath.
Keep the black belt if you’re recreating this business event outfit. It’s a small detail, but I love it next to all that cream.
brown skirt and bow shoes
I am obsessed with those little bows on the pale pointed shoes. They’re so cute with the long brown skirt and white shirt.
Try rolling your sleeves and adding a chunky gold-tone necklace like the one here. The dark belt with its large curved buckle is worth keeping too.
gray set and pointed boots
If you’re looking for something that keeps the colors simple, go with this gray high-neck top and matching long skirt. The narrow belt is easy to miss, but it’s such a pretty little detail.
Black pointed boots and a small dark bag finish the look.
black florals and a gold clutch
Looking for something dressier for an evening reception? This oversized black blazer sits over a sheer floral skirt, with sparkling drop earrings and a rounded gold-colored clutch.
I love the shiny pointed slingbacks. For a more conservative event, try a fully lined skirt while keeping those gorgeous accessories.
burgundy suit and stacked bangles
Who says you have to stick to black? This burgundy suit is so pretty with a white collared shirt and brown patterned tie.
The wide pants and oversized jacket already give you plenty to work with. Add stacked gold-tone bangles over an exposed shirt cuff if you want to follow this look.
high neckline and a glossy skirt
Don’t want to add patterns or lots of jewelry? No problem! Try this black long-sleeve top with a glossy black midi skirt and pointed pumps.
I love the small gold-colored buckle at the waist. That and the hoop earrings are enough here.
pinstripes and an open collar
Here’s another pinstripe vest look, but this one leaves off the tie. The white shirt peeks below the vest, with wide cuffs showing at the wrists.
Those pointed shoes with little buckles are my favorite part. Keep the shirt untucked like this for a less formal version of the matching set.
belted jacket and white cuffs
How cute are these sleeves? The black jacket has a tied waist and a flared hem, with a white collar and cuffs showing underneath.
Pair yours with slim black pants and pointed flats to follow the outfit. I’d keep the structured black top-handle bag too.
all black with a high neckline
If you’re looking for an outfit without lots of extra details, this one is for you. A sleeveless high-neck top meets long wide-leg pants at a defined waist.
The small black bag and pointed shoes keep the whole look beautifully simple.
cream coat over brown
I love this long cream coat over the brown top and pants. The dark buttons and matching brown belt are such pretty details.
If you already have a brown outfit planned, try adding a pale coat for the trip to your event. Leave it open like this to show the pieces underneath.
deep green wrap dress
This is a lovely option if you want color without a print. The deep green wrap-style dress has three-quarter sleeves and a tie at the waist.

The pale pointed pumps look so pretty below the overlapping hem. A small black bag and gold-tone watch keep the accessories understated.
taupe shirt and brown loafers
Don’t want to wear heels? No problem there! Try this shiny taupe button-front shirt with black ankle-length pants and brown loafers.
I love the gold-colored details across the shoes. Roll your sleeves and tuck in the shirt if you want to recreate the same combination.
cream cape-style top
This is actually one of my favorite cream outfits on the list. The cape-style top is so pretty above the pleated wide-leg pants.
The matching belt has a square gold-colored buckle, with a small cream bag and pale pointed pumps completing the look. I’d keep the necklace delicate like the one here.
black suit with a gold accent
If you love a statement detail, then this one is for you. The black jacket in this collage has an overlapping front and a large gold-colored spiral accent at the waist.
Pair a similar jacket with black wide-leg pants and pointed pumps. The rounded earrings are such a pretty match for that spiral.
brown suit and a draped top
I am obsessed with this all-brown combination. The draped V-neck top looks gorgeous beneath the open blazer, with wide-leg pants falling over open-toe shoes.
Save this one if you want a matching suit with a dressier top for an evening event.
checked blazer and cap-toe flats
Last but definitely not least, we have this checked blazer with a white tee and slim black pants. I love the pale flats with their black toe caps!
The black sweater draped over the shoulders gives you another layer to work with. Try this combination for an event with a more casual dress code.
