Fall trips to the city always get people asking the same thing. What do I even take pictures of? Everyone shows up with a phone full of storage and somehow leaves with twelve blurry skyline shots and nothing else.
That’s the mistake most people make, honestly. They wander around waiting for the perfect moment instead of having a plan going in.
This list fixes that! I scrolled through way too many travel boards looking for shots that actually work for regular people. Not professional photographers with three lenses and an assistant.

We’re starting off strong with the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise! I’ve dragged myself out there at 5am more times than I want to admit.
Get there before the crowds show up, or you’ll be dodging joggers the whole time.
Bring a light jacket because the wind off the water is no joke.

How cute is a classic yellow cab shot? I stand at a crosswalk and wait for one to blur past in the background.
It takes a few tries to get the timing right. My first attempt was just a blurry thumb, honestly!

Times Square Neon Lights
Times Square at night is loud, bright and honestly a little overwhelming. I still point my camera up anyway and let the neon fill the frame.

This bench shot in Central Park is my favorite fall idea on this whole list! Orange leaves everywhere and a plain wooden bench, that’s really the whole setup.
Sit sideways instead of facing the camera straight on. It reads way more natural in photos, trust me on this one.

Fifth Avenue window displays are basically free photo sets during the holidays. I stand at an angle instead of straight on so the glare doesn’t wreck it.

Latte art from above never gets old, honestly! I always set the cup slightly off center instead of dead middle.

Looking straight up inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele gives you this incredible glass and iron ceiling shot. I lay flat on my back for the cleanest angle and people definitely stared.
It’s one of the most photographed ceilings in the world for a reason. The photo is worth the stares, lol!

An evening stroll along the Navigli canal gives you warm string lights reflecting on the water! I always time it right as the sun sets for the best color.
