Looking for outfits for an hourglass shape that give you more options than a fitted dress? Think dark jeans, a belted blazer or a pretty wrap top with wide-leg pants.
These looks give you plenty to try, whether you like showing your waist or keeping things a little looser.
You can keep it simple or dress things up with jewelry. I especially love the brown accessories and little neckline details here.
Start with a combination you like, then make it your own.
Hourglass Outfit Ideas to Save
black midi and pointed heels
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous black midi dress. I love the wide V-neckline and the slight flare at the hem.
The tan pointed heels keep the rest simple.
If you want to bring in some color, try a green coat like the one carried here.
brown tank and dark jeans
How cute is this brown and blue combination? The scoop-neck tank is tucked into dark high-waisted jeans, with a brown belt and matching bag.

That large gold-tone buckle is the detail I’d keep. Try it with a simple tank you already own.
long coat and gray skirt
If you love longer skirts, this one is for you. A black high-neck top sits neatly inside a gray midi skirt, with a slim belt at the waist.
I love the long black coat worn open over it. Keep your pointed boots showing beneath the skirt to follow this look.
beige shirt and draped skirt
This skirt may just be one of my favorites here. The gathered side and overlapping front look so pretty with the shiny beige button-front shirt.
Try tucking your shirt into a high-waisted skirt like this. Add pale pointed heels and a small black bag if you want to follow the collage.
striped shirt and floral corset
Want something a little different from a tucked-in shirt? This brown floral corset-style top goes over blue stripes, with wide brown trousers underneath.
I am obsessed with that combination of patterns. Keep the little brown drawstring bag if you like the matching accessories.
cream wrap dress
This cream wrap-style dress is so pretty on its own. The long sleeves, deep V-neckline and side tie give you plenty of detail without adding a belt.

Black strappy sandals and a black shoulder bag finish the look. I’d keep the jewelry simple with a small pendant like this one.
belted blazer and white pants
I am obsessed with this brown blazer. It’s so good with the white trousers, especially with that oversized gold-tone buckle at the waist.

Try a belt over a blazer you already have if you want a more defined waist. Push up the sleeves to show off a chunky cuff.
black dress with white trim
How pretty is this little white outline? It follows the straps and neckline, then appears again around the flared hem of the black dress.
The fitted middle needs no extra belt here. Add a gold-tone pendant if you want the same small touch of shine.
black tee and flared jeans
Don’t want to go all out and want something super simple? This fitted black tee and blue flared jeans pairing is for you.
I love the front pocket seams and the wider hems.
Try a small necklace rather than lots of accessories to keep this same everyday feel.
ombre top and charcoal flares
The blush-to-charcoal color on this top is so pretty. It has a twisted front, flared sleeves and a loose hem paired with dark flared jeans.
You don’t have to choose a close-fitting waist every time. Save this collage if you like a floatier top, then try the gold-tone hoops and shell pendant.
white tank and black midi
I love this white tank with the shiny black midi skirt. The layered necklaces and square-toe thong sandals make the simple pairing feel a little more dressed up.
Keep the top tucked in if you want the skirt’s waistband to show.
light buttons and wide legs
If you’re looking for an all-black outfit with a little extra detail, go with this sleeveless collared look. Small light-colored buttons run down the front and along the hips above those wide trouser legs.
The little beige handbag is such a cute addition. You don’t need much else.
taupe skort and tall boots
This is one of my favorite ways to wear a skort. I love the angled front panel with the black high-neck top tucked in.
Add sheer black tights and tall pointed boots to try the same combination. The small chain-strap bag is a pretty finishing touch.
pinstripes and a flared hem
The little puffed sleeves are so cute on this pinstriped top. The collage pairs it with a fitted black skirt that flares at the bottom, plus shiny bow-detail shoes.
Choose a wide buckle belt if you want that extra decoration. I’d keep the skirt plain so you can really see its shape.
brown halter and matching shorts
Don’t want to put together lots of separate pieces? This brown halter top and matching shorts give you a simple starting point.
I love the little pale botanical designs on the top and one side of the shorts.
A small pendant like the one shown is enough to finish this set.
deep V-neck and dark jeans
Here’s another dark-jeans look, but this one swaps the tank for a long-sleeve V-neck top. The brown belt and handbag look so good against the black and deep blue.
Try this combination with pointed black boots peeking out below the hems. It’s a lovely way to dress up your jeans without adding much.
cream wrap top and beige trousers
I am in love with the long side tie on this cream top. The wrap front sits above beige pleated trousers, with pale strappy sandals underneath.

If you like highlighting your waist without a separate belt, this is a pretty combination to try. Let the tie hang at one side like it does here.
white edging and little bows
Here’s a closer look at the white-trimmed black dress from earlier. Those little bows on the black slingbacks are such a sweet detail.
I’d leave off a jacket for a dressy indoor look so you can see the narrow straps and curved neckline.
black mini and brown bag
Don’t want to add a belt or lots of jewelry? No problem!
This long-sleeve black mini dress keeps things simple with a high neckline and a small pendant.
The sheer tights and knee-high boots continue the black outfit. I love the dark brown handbag as a change from another black accessory.
beige vest and matching trousers
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty beige matching set. I love the curved neckline and pointed hem on the fitted vest.
The matching trousers and brown shoulder bag look lovely together.
