Footprints in wet sand make one of the calmest beach these out there. The tide erases everything in minutes, so I only get one shot. I walk the shoreline right after a wave pulls back, shooting down at an angle. Blink and the whole canvas is gone!

A beach blanket picnic setup turns a normal towel into a whole scene. Fruit, a cold drink and a striped blanket do most of the heavy lifting here.

Cap and gown boardwalk shots blend the milestone with the ocean. That combo just works! Wooden planks add texture a plain sidewalk never could. I always plan this one for sunrise, before the boardwalk fills up. Fair warning, sand gets in everything, lol!

Barefoot portraits on the dunes feel a little windswept and unbothered. Sand dunes give height and texture flat beach shots just don’t have. I climb partway up and shoot from below, looking up. The sky swallows the whole background and it looks incredible!

Drawing your class year in the sand is such a fun tradition for senior these beach sessions. It only takes a stick and a smooth patch of sand. I always shoot straight overhead so the numbers actually read. Do it early, because footprints ruin the canvas fast!

Half your face behind flowers looks mysterious in the best way. A single stem held at chin height changes the whole mood. I’ve used peonies, daisies, honestly whatever was sitting in a vase at home. It always works, who doesn’t love that?

I always shoot near a plain wall so nothing distracts from the face. It photographs like something off a yearbook cover, am I right?

Last but definitely not least, a half birthday number sign photo is one of the sweetest 6 month baby these boy half birthday parents search for. A simple wooden or felt sign does all the work.
