Looking for christmas porch planters to dress up your front door? Think red berries, big pinecones and little trees with pretty bows.
These ideas include overflowing pots, simple matching pairs and a few window boxes or hanging baskets if you want to decorate beyond the doorstep.
You can keep things simple or go all out with candy canes and shiny ornaments. I especially love the plaid bows. Start with a container you like, then pick the little details you want to add.
Christmas Planter Ideas to Save
red branches and snowy pinecones
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous mix of red branches and overflowing greenery. I love the white edges on the big pinecones.
The pale upright logs look so pretty behind them.
If you want to follow this look, keep the berry clusters spread throughout rather than gathered in one spot.
candy canes and pale logs
How cute are these candy canes tucked into the branches? The red-and-white stripes give this full green arrangement a playful little touch.
Try placing your candy cane decorations at different heights like these. Keep the pale logs visible behind them so they don’t get lost in all that greenery.
an overflowing pedestal urn
If you are looking for something a little grander, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the wide gray urn to the red fruit-shaped accents tucked between the branches.
The trailing greenery is my favorite part. I’d let it spill over the rim rather than trim everything into a neat round shape.
striped canes and red baubles
Here is another candy cane idea, but it’s a little different from the one above. These decorations have green stripes too, with big red and orange-gold baubles sitting among the branches.
Try this combination in a small pedestal planter if you like the candy theme without the tall logs.
a glowing black window box
Don’t want to add another pot beside your door? No problem! This black window box brings the greenery up beneath the window instead.
I love the little lights between the red berries and pinecones. The pale bare branches rising above them are worth keeping if you want to try a similar arrangement.
silver buckets and plaid bows
I am obsessed with these matching bucket arrangements. The red plaid bows are so cute against the silver-colored containers, especially with their long tails hanging down the front.
For christmas porch pots planters with a simple red-and-green look, try this mix of upright greenery and small berry clusters. There’s no need to add baubles too.
a little tree and a star
This little tree may just be one of my favorites here. I love the tan star nestled near its base instead of sitting at the top.
The dark plaid bows hang on either side of the surrounding greenery. Keep that lower ring of branches if you want your bucket to look just as full.
two pots on the steps
Have a couple of different planters you want to use? This is such a pretty way to pair them.
The taller patterned pot holds a little tree while the lower round pot has airy stems above berries and pinecones.
Repeat the red berries in both arrangements to bring them together. Leave plenty of room on your steps for walking.
tall logs and berry sprays
If you love a tall arrangement, save this one. Pale logs rise through the greenery with thin bare twigs scattered around them.
The brown-backed leaves beside the red berry sprays are so pretty. I’d keep those bigger leaves near the front where you can actually see them.
glossy red round pots
Okay, these red pots are gorgeous! Their round shapes and shiny finish make them feel like oversized Christmas baubles with greenery on top.
The branches stay fairly low in the front pots, with berries and pinecones doing the decorating. Try a matching pair if you want this look on a smaller porch.
white flowers and silver ornaments
Who says you have to use red? I love this white window box with its little trees, large white blooms and silver-colored ornaments.
The greenery hangs well below the edge with little lights dotted through it. For your own version, you could use outdoor-rated faux flowers to get a similar white floral detail.

gold baubles by the door
Bring a little sparkle to your doorstep with these gold-colored baubles. The mix of shiny and glittery finishes looks so pretty beside the red berry stems.
These christmas porch planters sit on either side of the welcome mat in matching brown pots. Try grouping your larger ornaments low in the greenery to follow this look.
burgundy leaves and pinecones
Don’t want to go overboard with ornaments? No problem!
This tall black planter has burgundy leaves, bright green foliage and pinecones across the front.
I especially love the long greenery falling down the sides. The deep red leaves give you a little Christmas color without adding a bow or berry spray.
curling branches by the door
I am obsessed with these tall curly branches. They look so pretty above the loose greenery and scattered pinecones.

The two dark pots frame the doorway without any bright red decorations. If you prefer a quieter Christmas look, try keeping your arrangement green and brown like this.
wrapped pots and red berries
How sweet are these little wrapped pots? The tan coverings gather around the containers with a thin bow at the front.
There are lots of red berries here, plus a few bare twigs reaching above the greenery. I’d keep the wrapping plain so those bright berry sprays get all the attention.
long red ribbon tails
If you are looking for a big bow moment, this one is for you. The red ribbon trails almost to the bottom of the tall brown planter.
I love the pale-tipped pinecones tucked into the upright branches. Choose an extra-long ribbon for your own version if you want that same draped detail.
simple trees in black planters
Don’t want to add berries, bows or any sparkle? No problem there! These two undecorated trees look lovely in their tall black planters.
The black-and-white striped mat adds a little pattern underneath the welcome mat. I’d leave the trees plain if you’re going for this same simple doorway.
hanging baskets of greenery
Take your Christmas greenery off the floor with hanging baskets like these. I love the red berry sprays above the tan baskets and the long branches spilling over their sides.
Little lights run along the hanging cords too. You could pair this idea with simple potted trees below, just like the ones beside the door.
a barrel of winter branches
This is another lovely way to skip the bright ornaments. The barrel-style planter is filled with pale logs, pinecones, tan flower clusters and silvery leaf sprays.
Those light-colored leaves are my favorite detail here. Try spreading them toward the outer edges of your arrangement instead of hiding them behind the taller branches.
little trees with tan bows
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty row of little trees. I love the oversized tan bows on the matching covered pots!
The trees themselves are left undecorated, with wreaths hanging in the windows above. Try two beside your door if you don’t have room for a whole row.
