20 Mini Desserts and Sweet Serving Ideas for Your Next Party

Looking for mini desserts with a little something extra? Think berry-topped cheesecakes, colorful fruit tarts and little cups with pretty layers.

There’s plenty to choose from here, whether you love chocolate or want to fill your dessert table with fruit.

You can keep the decorations simple or go all out with frosting and sprinkles. These ideas include individual treats plus a doughnut display you could recreate on a smaller scale. I especially love the tiny pastries with pink icing!

Small dessert ideas worth saving

berry-topped cheesecakes

We’re starting off strong with these cute little cheesecakes. I love the straight sides and the golden crumb bases.

A dark berry sits in a little pool of red topping on each one.

Keep your serving platter plain if you want those berry tops to stand out like this.

little crimped pie shells

How cute are those wavy edges? This picture catches the pies before baking, with a golden-orange filling being poured into the pastry shells.

If you want to try individual pies, save this as shaping inspiration. Follow your chosen mini pie recipe for the filling and baking instructions.

rainbow fruit tarts

This fruit tart idea may just be my favorite one so far. I love the overlapping kiwi slices and the little clusters of blueberries.

Strawberries and orange segments make the tops even more colorful.

Try grouping each fruit together rather than scattering everything across the filling.

chocolate layers in little glasses

The chocolate fans are going to love this! These little glasses have dark crumb bases, swirls of chocolate-colored filling and pale piped tops.

The scattered chocolate shavings are such a pretty finishing touch. Add a small spoon to each glass when you set them out.

cocoa-dusted dessert cups

Don’t want to add fruit or colorful sprinkles? No problem!

These square cups keep things simple with pale layers, golden-brown pieces and a generous cocoa-colored dusting.

I especially love the tall swirl on each one. Clear cups let you show off everything underneath it too.

apple crumble pie cups

If you love a crumb topping, this one is for you. The pastry-lined muffin wells are piled with apple pieces, with loose crumbs being added over the tops.

The uneven pastry corners are so cute. You don’t need a perfectly scalloped edge to use this as inspiration for your next batch of little pies.

green and ivory frosting

I am obsessed with these cupcake decorations. The green and ivory swirls are gorgeous together, especially with those little gold-colored accents.

Ask for a mix of large rosettes and smaller piped stars if you’re ordering a similar set. They don’t all have to match.

tiny pecan tartlets

How adorable are these little tartlets? The ruffled golden shells are filled with chopped pecans and glossy brown filling.

I’d leave the tops just like this rather than covering up all those little pieces.

banana and wafer cups

This is such a cute way to serve a banana dessert. You can see the pale filling, banana slices and cookie pieces through the sides of each square cup.

The whole wafer and banana slice on top are my favorite part. Stand them beside a small white swirl to follow this presentation.

lemon tarts with toasted ribbons

If you are looking for something a little more dressed up, then this one is for you. These lemon tarts have bright yellow centers with a ribbon of toasted meringue running across each one.

I love that the topping doesn’t cover the whole tart. Leave some of that yellow showing if you’re trying a similar decoration.

little chocolate cake stacks

Who says a layer cake has to be big? These little chocolate rounds have a thick band of brown frosting in the middle and another dollop on top.

The exposed cake edges look lovely here. I’d skip frosting the sides and keep that stacked look.

strawberry cake glasses

I love these strawberry layers with the big pieces of pale cake. The red fruit shows through the rounded glasses, with a white topping and strawberry half above it.

For a smaller serving, you could borrow this combination for little tasting glasses instead.

pink-glazed little eclairs

These little eclairs are just too pretty. The muted pink icing and tiny dark red garnishes look lovely against the white lacy liners.

Try an oval tray for a similar display. Leave a little space between the pastries so you can see their individual shapes.

strawberry cups on a stand

This is another strawberry idea, but it’s a little different from the glasses above. Cake sits at the bottom of each square cup, followed by pale filling, a red strawberry layer and a piped white top.

I love the raised cup in the middle. A small pedestal is worth trying if you want a little height on your dessert table.

lime-topped dessert jars

Don’t want to use tall dessert cups? These little jars are a cute alternative.

Golden crumbs and pale filling show through the sides, with white swirls and bright green lime slices on top.

That green checked backdrop is a sweet touch too.

a platter of cinnamon rolls

There’s something so cute about a whole platter of little cinnamon rolls. I love how you can still see the dark spirals through the thin white glaze.

For a brunch dessert table, you could serve a tray like this beside a separate fruit platter.

pink sugar cookie cups

OMG, how adorable are these cookie cups? The bright pink frosting sits right inside the golden cookie edges, with colorful sprinkles scattered over each swirl.

You could switch the frosting color to match your party. I’d keep the rainbow sprinkles either way.

red and yellow dessert layers

The red and pale yellow pairing is so pretty in these tall cups. Each one has a clear red bottom layer, a much deeper yellow layer and a piped topping with strawberries and blueberries.

If you want to borrow the look for smaller portions, try the same color arrangement in short clear cups.

birthday doughnut tower

Want something different from a birthday cake? This stand is piled with glazed and iced doughnuts, with rainbow sprinkles and a little birthday banner above them.

The doughnuts shown aren’t clearly mini, but you could use mini doughnuts for a smaller version. I love the pink-iced one right at the top.

cream puffs with crackled tops

Last but definitely not least, we have these gorgeous cream puffs. I love the golden crackled tops and the light dusting of powdered sugar.

The cut-open puff shows off that pale filling so nicely. You could place a halved one at the front of your platter for a similar presentation.
