20 Sandal Trends and Pretty Styles to Inspire Your Next Outfit

Looking for sandal trends with a little something extra? Think oversized buckles, pale blue bows and plenty of sparkle.

These picks range from simple strappy flats to tall platforms, with a closed-toe wedge option included if you prefer more coverage at the front.

You can keep things simple or go all out with color. I especially love the gold-tone details on the neutral pairs.

Start with a shape you like, then decide whether you want fringe, ankle ties or a big bow!

Sandal styles worth saving

black fisherman sandals

We’re starting off strong with these chunky black fisherman sandals. I love the overlapping straps with the long white dress.

The little gold-colored anklet is such a pretty extra touch.

Try the same black-and-white pairing if you want to keep your outfit simple.

black or beige straps

Which pair would you choose? The sandals held up here have two different looks: chunky black straps with shiny square details or beige straps with a woven-looking pattern.

I’d choose the beige pair to wear with the red checked shorts and gray sweatshirt. The fuzzy closed-toe shoes being worn are a separate option.

cream slides and gold buckles

These cream slides may just be one of my favorites here. I love the oversized gold-tone buckles on both straps.

The dark edge around the sole keeps them from being entirely one color.

Pair yours with cream trousers if you want to carry that pale shade into your outfit.

ankle-high crisscross straps

If you are looking for lots of strap detail, then this one is for you. The dark brown bands cross over the feet and continue above the ankles, with little buckles near the toes.

I’d try these with a shorter hem so those upper straps stay visible.

sporty straps with colorful tabs

How cute are these little yellow, red and navy tabs? The pale straps and chunky white soles keep the rest of the sandals simple.

The shiny silver-colored discs on the skirt make this a fun outfit pairing. Try your own sparkly skirt if you like mixing sporty shoes with something dressier.

cream wedges and ankle bows

I am obsessed with these ankle bows. The cream ties look so pretty above the tall wedges, especially with the white cutout-pattern dress.

This pair has closed toes rather than an open sandal front. Save it as an alternative if you love the ankle-tie look but want your toes covered.

slim black straps

Don’t want to go all out with thick soles or big buckles? No problem!

These black sandals have slim straps, low block heels and tiny round gold-tone buckles. I’d wear them with cropped trousers and a plain white top.

see-through pink slides

How fun is this pink jelly-style slide? The see-through straps, matching buckles and thick pink sole make it anything but plain.

You could keep your outfit all white and let the pink be the one bright detail. There’s already plenty to love in the shoe itself.

tan crossover sandals

If you are looking for something simple with a little ankle detail, this pair is for you. Thin tan straps run from the toe posts into crosses over the ankles.

I love the pale stitching around the edges of the soles.

black slides with bold buckles

This is another pretty way to wear oversized buckles. The gold-tone squares look gorgeous against the wide black straps and thick black soles.

Try a small gold-tone necklace with these if you want to repeat that detail without adding another big accessory.

braided straps and fringe

The fringe fans are going to love this! Pale beige fringe runs along the outer sides, with little braids continuing across the fronts and around the backs.

I’d pair these with a simple dress rather than adding more fringe. Those side details are worth showing off on their own.

a sculpted black heel

This heel is the detail I’d save the picture for. The curved black shape leaves a large opening underneath, while a diagonal strap and toe post keep the front quite minimal.

It’s a lovely option if you want something different from a straight block heel.

green with gold-colored beads

I am obsessed with this green and gold-colored pairing. The rounded decorations run down the center straps and around the ankles.

Those glossy green footbeds are just as pretty.

Try these with a plain black dress if you want the color and little bead details to stand out.

burgundy platforms

If you love a tall platform, this pair might be your favorite. The burgundy front bands and slim ankle straps sit above brown platforms with a striped, woodgrain-like pattern.

I’d try flared jeans with these for a retro-looking outfit. Keep a little of the front platform showing beneath the hems.

cream and brown knots

How cute is this knotted design? The cream-and-brown patterned straps loop across the feet and around the heels, all above simple black soles.

The little knots are my favorite part. You don’t need shiny buckles to make a pair of flat sandals interesting.

brown woven crossover slides

Don’t want to add bows or shiny details to your sandals? No problem there!

Try these brown slides with broad overlapping bands and a woven pattern. The matching brown footbeds keep the whole pair nice and simple.

pink buckles and checked footbeds

This is a different take on the buckle slide, with pale pink straps and silver-tone hardware. I love the black and red checks across the tan footbeds.

That pattern will be partly hidden when you’re wearing them, but the broad pink bands and little side studs still give you plenty of detail.

pale blue bows

How adorable are these pale blue slides? I am quite literally obsessed with the oversized bows.

The matching blue edges and open fronts keep the color going beyond the bows. I’d choose a white dress to wear with these, or cropped jeans if you want something more casual.

sparkling fisherman straps

I know the plain black fisherman sandals above are cute, but this sparkling version is another favorite. The silver-colored sparkle covers the cage-like straps and continues around the heel.

The blue jeans shown here are a lovely pairing. Keep yours cropped or roll the hems if you want the sandals fully on show.

big beaded knots

Last but definitely not least, we have these pretty knotted slides. I love the tiny bead-like details gathered into such big twists!

Both the white and bronze-colored versions have tan footbeds with squared fronts.

I’d choose the white pair with a colorful dress. The bronze-colored pair would look lovely with an all-black outfit.
