Looking for comfortable teacher outfits with a little something extra? Think checked pants, oversized shirts and a floral cardigan over a gingham dress.
These ideas give you plenty to work with, whether you like keeping your colors simple or mixing a few patterns.
Start with pieces and shoes you already feel good wearing, then borrow your favorite details below. Keep your school’s dress code in mind too.
I especially love the little scarf accents and colorful sleeves!
Teacher outfit ideas worth saving
navy pants and a scarf-tied tote
We’re starting off strong with this oversized pale sweatshirt and cropped navy pants. The white platform sneakers keep the outfit casual, but that tan tote is my favorite part.
Tie a floral scarf around your bag handle if you want to try the same pretty detail.
gray cardigan and black leggings
Don’t want to go all out and want something super simple? This long gray cardigan over a black top and leggings gives you an easy starting point.
I love the big pockets and wide ribbed sleeves.

Keep the white socks showing above gray-and-white sneakers to follow this look.
white tee and beige wide legs
If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. A loose white tee, beige wide-leg pants and white sneakers make up the whole outfit.
Try a small front tuck like this one rather than tucking in the entire tee.
colorful striped sleeves
How cute is this sweater dress? The orange, green and dark stripes around the sleeves are such a fun detail against the gray-beige body.
Pair yours with white sneakers if you want to keep it casual. The black laces here are a cute extra touch.
taupe cardigan and dark trousers
I am obsessed with this combination. The taupe button-front cardigan looks so pretty with the dark wide-leg trousers and black belt.

Those leopard-print shoes peeking out underneath are worth keeping if you want a little pattern without changing the rest of the outfit.
tan jumpsuit and little stripes
This is another pretty way to layer a cardigan. The long pale cardigan sits over a tan wide-leg jumpsuit, with a striped tee showing at the neckline.
I love the braided straps on the tan sandals. You could swap in closed-toe flats if those suit your classroom better.
open stripes and cuffed jeans
The oversized shirt fans are going to love this! A green-and-white striped shirt goes over a plain white tee, with cuffed blue jeans and white sneakers underneath.
Leave the shirt open and roll back the sleeves to try this same relaxed look.
gray from top to sneakers
Don’t want to add bright colors or patterns? No problem!
Try this gray top with pale gray cropped jeans and gray-and-white sneakers. I love the full sleeves and little frayed edges at the hems.
black midi and blue jacket
This black dress outfit may just be one of my favorites here. I love the blue jacket with the black-and-white sneakers.
The large patterned tote adds something extra without bringing in a bright color.
Push up your jacket sleeves if you want to show a watch or a few bracelets.
black tee and gingham pants
How cute are these gingham pants? The wide cropped legs give the little black-and-white checks plenty of space, while the tucked black tee keeps the top half simple.
Try a colorful lanyard like the pale blue one here if you want one small splash of color.
camel sweater and striped collar
I love this camel sweater with the striped shirt peeking out underneath. You can see the stripes at the collar, cuffs and just below the hem.
Pair the layers with cuffed cream pants and tan loafers to recreate the look. Don’t forget the little gold-tone shoe details.
checkerboard pants and yellow clogs
If you are looking for a playful pants outfit, then this one is for you. There’s a loose white shirt, muted checkerboard pants and even a pair of yellow clogs.
I especially love the shirt tucked on just one side. Try that little detail if you want more of the checks to show.
tiered blue skirt and white boots
I am obsessed with this long tiered skirt. It’s so pretty with the loose white sleeveless blouse, plus those white platform boots make the outfit a little dressier.
You could choose white flats instead if you’d rather skip the heels. I’d keep the blue-and-white pairing either way.
blue jacket and a neck scarf
This is a similar navy pants idea to the first outfit, but it’s a little different as well. I love how the printed scarf is worn at the neck this time.
The long blue jacket goes over a white top. Add a tan tote and pale sneakers if you want to follow the full combination.
brown checks and a short cardigan
How adorable is this checked outfit? The brown-and-white cropped pants look so cute with the white top and short-sleeve brown cardigan.
For your own comfortable teacher outfits, try this combination with sneakers you already enjoy wearing. The cream pair here matches the large shoulder bag.
burgundy accents and black flares
The matching burgundy cap and shoulder-draped sweater are my favorite parts of this look. They look so good with the oversized blue shirt, black flared pants and white sneakers.
If hats aren’t part of your school wardrobe, leave off the cap and keep the tied sweater for that same touch of burgundy.
striped shirt and white trousers
If you’re looking for an outfit that doesn’t need lots of accessories, go with this striped button-front shirt and white wide-leg trousers. The brown shoulder bag and sandals finish it off.
Try leaving one side of the shirt untucked like this. It’s a small detail worth borrowing.
rust sweater and floral pants
Bring a little floral print into your school-week outfits with these dark wide-leg pants. I love how the rust-colored sweater picks up the orange tones in the flowers.
Keep the top plain if you want to try a similar print. The brown ankle boots look lovely beneath those wide hems.
gingham dress and flower cardigan
I know the floral pants above are pretty, but this flower cardigan is another favorite. Mostly because it looks so cute over the orange-brown gingham dress!
Try keeping both patterns in a similar color family to borrow this idea. The white loafers tie in with the pale cardigan and the checks.
green sweater and black flares
Last but definitely not least, we have this dark green sweater outfit. I love the white high neckline peeking out above it. The black flared pants, beige platform shoes and small white bag keep the rest simple.
